President John Dramani Mahama has scheduled a meeting with the Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, the Ghana Free Zones Authority and the Ministry of Finance to address concerns over the Customs Act, 2026, and its impact on incentives for free zone enterprises.

The meeting, expected to take place next week, follows an industrial visit by the President and the Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, to the Afienya Industrial Enclave and Tema in the Greater Accra Region on Thursday, October 15, 2026.

The engagement is expected to address concerns from businesses that changes under the new law have reduced some of the incentives previously available to free zone enterprises.

During the visit, President Mahama and the Trade Minister toured five companies in the Afienya Industrial Enclave: Juidine Corporation Ghana Limited, Huaguang New Energy Battery Ghana Limited, Qian Feng Intel Corporation, Zema New Energy Limited and Baoxu Automobile Manufacturing Ghana Limited.

In Tema, they also visited Dignity DTRT Limited, a major player in Ghana’s textiles and garments industry.

The industrial tour forms part of the government’s efforts to promote industrial development, strengthen local manufacturing and create employment opportunities.

President Mahama also urged workers at the companies to remain dedicated, hardworking and committed to their responsibilities, stressing that their contributions were essential to the growth and expansion of the businesses.

The visit underscores the government’s focus on engaging manufacturers, addressing challenges confronting businesses and creating an enabling environment for investment and industrial production.
