An Accra Circuit Court has ordered the arrest of Prophet Daniel Nkansah, Flag bearer of the New Vision Party (NVP) following his non appearance in Court . When the case was called before the Court presided over by Ms Adwoa Coleman, Prophet Nkansah was absent and the court issued a bench warrant to effect his arrest. According to the court, Prophet Nkansah had been absenting himself from court and provided an excuse that he was sick. Prophet Nkansah was put before the court on a charge of fraudulent breach of Trust. He has denied the charge and the court has admitted him to bail in the sum of GHc 20,000.00 with two sureties, one to be justified. Prosecution has it that the complainant was Aisha Nurudeen, a trader residing at Accra New Town whilst Prophet Nkansah, a Pastor and Businessman, resides at Atico in Accra. Inspector Edward Afful said about five months ago, the complainant wanted a loan to facilitate her business and was introduced to the accused person for assistance. Prosecution said Prophet Nkansah directed the complainant to Stanbic Bank, Makola branch, where she opened an account after going through the bank’s requirement. She was offered a loan of GH¢ 25,000. On June 14, 2011, the complainant together with Prophet Nkansah’s son went to the bank and withdrew the GH¢ 25,000. On their return, Prophet Nkansah asked the complainant to handover GH¢ 19,000 for safekeeping until she was ready to travel to China on her business trip. “When the complainant was ready to travel and went for the money Prophet Nkansah refused to give her the money. The complainant reported the matter to the bank officials and they requested that the money should be returned but Prophet Nkansah declined to handover the money. The complainant therefore reported the matter to the Police and the accused person was picked up and during interrogation he admitted collecting the money but promised to refund the money and signed an undertaking but he could not fulfill his promise. Prophet Nkansah has so far paid GH¢ 4,000 out of GH¢ 19,000.
