Real Madrid attacker Cristiano Ronaldo has stated that the Copa del Rey holders will beat Barcelona this season, AS reports.
The Santiago Bernabeu side were unable to really challenge the Catalans for the Primera Division title in 2010-11, while they were eliminated by their rivals in the semi-finals of the Champions League, too.
Although they did beat Barcelona in the Copa del Rey final, Madrid were far from satisfied with their overall results against head coach Pep Guardiola's men and upon visiting Centro Navas de Tolosa de Discapacitados Intelectuales, a centre for disabled children, Cristiano Ronaldo promised a fan that they will do better this season.
"Relax my friend, we will beat Barcelona this term," the Portugal international responded when asked whether Real Madrid would be able to beat the Champions League holders this season.
Real Madrid were beaten 5-4 on aggregate by their arch rivals in the Spanish Supercopa earlier this season.
Barcelona currently sit top of the Primera Division table with 14 points from six games, while Real Madrid are third with 13 points.
