CEO of Denyigbalorlor Foundation has urged communities along the coastal areas in the southern part of the Volta Region has to cultivate the habit of tree planting along the roads and their various communities to preserve the environment. 

Safo Mawuko Kutorwu said trees, in general, are nature's components that help preserve life and beautify the environment. 

He made this comment during the first 50 kilometres tree planting exercise in the Anloga and the Keta municipalities by the Denyigbalorlor Foundation 

Mr Kutorwu noted that a lot can be obtained from trees which includes food, shelter for man and animal, among many others.

He added that lack of trees in our environment has brought about the increase of global warming. 

Mr Kutorwu urged the residents, especially children and the youth, to make tree planting a part of their lives to help have a better and more beautiful environment 

“If people develop the habit of planting trees in their homes, the state will be safe from any environmental disaster and look beautiful to attract tourists,” he said.

Assembly members for the areas, Joseph Kweku and Raphael Deny promised their readiness to help plant as many as possible in the preservation of the environment.

Also taking his turn, the Keta Manager of the Ramsersite of the wildlife division of the Forestry Commission, Lawrence Tettey, also stated that planting trees is critical in fixing the Ghana agenda hence the urgent need to plant as many trees as possible.

Assemblyman for Afiadenyigba Dziehe, Gilbert Kekli, who led his electoral area in planting the trees, also pledged his commitment to ensuring that the residents of Anlo Afiadenyigba continue with tree planting even after the initial exercise. 

Denyigbalorlor Foundation aims to embark on tree planting and education twice a year until they can achieve their target of planting trees across the globe.

School Children, especially girls club in the various communities of the two municipalities, were seen busily planting trees. 

The exercise of 50km, which started from Anyanui in the Anloga District through to all the towns in Keta Municipality, aims at planting10,000 trees.
