The Marina Mall at Accra’s Airport City has introduced fresh measures to prevent the possible spread of coronavirus within the facility.
The Mall will no longer admit customers who refuse to wear specially designed disposable gloves provided at the entrance.
A senior executive at the Mall, Frank Arhin told Joy News' that the move is in response to President Akufo-Addo’s call on Ghanaians to be on high alert and help prevent a spread of the virus.
Hundreds, if not thousands of people, from all walks of life visit the Airport City here in Accra, on a daily basis.
But the spread of coronavirus across the world is making that adventure more and more risky by the day.
The mall is one of the first businesses to respond to President Akufo-Addo’s call for Ghanaians to be extra vigilant.
Since Thursday, customers would be required to wear disposable hand gloves provided at the entrance before they’re allowed into the mall.
Meanwhile, the country office of the World Health Organisation (WHO) is asking Ghanaians to take personal responsibility in ensuring the country is protected from a spread of Covid-19 into Ghana.
She spoke to JoyNews on the sidelines of a sensitization programme for church faith-based organisations and NGOs in Accra.
Some basic rules to prevent the spread of the virus includes washing hands with soap under running water, use alcohol-based hand rub such as a sanitizer, cover your mouth with a tissue when you sneeze and dispose it immediately.
Also, avoid touching infected surfaces and if you do not touch your mouth, face and nose and if you experience symptoms of the disease, do not visit a hospital on your own – simply call the Ghana Health Service Emergency lines for assistance.
