Clients of DKM Diamond Microfinance in Sunyani whose investments have matured would have to wait until the Bank of Ghana concludes its audit into the operations of the company in three months time.
This was confirmed by the Head of Other Financial Services at the Bank of Ghana, Raymond Amonfo.
Tension is said to be brewing among some customers of the company who are complaining their funds have been locked up following the Bank of Ghana’s decision to suspend the company’s operations.
The Central bank is to carry out an audit into the company’s operations in the next three months following revelations the company was operating outside the banking laws.
Mr. Amonfo says it might take at least three months before depositors receive their funds.
“We may have to do customer audits. If for instance we don’t find your name in the list of clients and you claim you have monies there, then you’ll have to provide evidence. We’re hoping that if all goes well, this will be done within the 90 day moratorium but the law also says that if we have not completed the exercise, we will then have to inform the public of an extension of the period” he said.
Mr. Amonfo insisted the depositors would receive their funds only after the due diligence has been carried on the company’s accounts.
