Seven months after its fleet was grounded following the crash that killed over 160 people, Nigeria airline operator, Dana Air resumed domestic flights Friday, January 4.
Aviation authorities temporarily grounded the airline after the incident in June last year.
In September 2012, the Federal Government re-instated the airline’s license and allowed it to resume, only with test flights. And then last month, authorities issued a new Air Operators Certificate to Dana Air after it completed the necessary re-certification processes.
With the resumption of flights, Dana Air will become the second Nigerian airline involved in a crash in the last 10 years that was allowed to fly.
The pilot of the Dana Air plane is said to have radioed that the plane was having troubles before finally crashing into a densely populated neighborhood in Lagos.
The accident killed all 153 people on board and at least 10 on the ground.
