A 32-year-old self employed man, Godfred Annoh Fosu, has been arrested by the Dansoman police for allegedly possessing 13 bundles and 92 pieces fake GH¢5.00 notes.
The Dansoman Divisional Police Commander, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Paul M. Awini, explained that on August 27 this year, at about 12.30 p.m, a complainant and a Community Police Assistant spotted the suspect at Dansomat Water Works holding a fertiliser bag in a suspicious manner.
He said the police confronted the suspect and enquired about the contents of the bag.
ACP Awini said upon the inquisition, the suspect attempted to run away but was arrested.
When the fertiliser bag was opened, he said, it contained a brown box with fake five cedi notes and quantities of papers shaped into the size of five cedis note.
The Divisional Commander said the suspect would be arraigned before court soon after investigations has been concluded.
ACP Awini advised the public to be on the alert when transacting business and warned perpetrators to put a stop to the practice.
