Delta Air Lines has launched Delta Protocol Service to mark five years of its enormous contribution to the aviation industry in Ghana.

Delta Airlines which began operations in the country in 2006 is the second US-based airline company to offer direct flights from Ghana to the United States after North American Airlines.

The Delta Protocol Service will add personal escort to passengers on board their flights.

Customers would also enjoy lounge pick up, luggage assistance, expedited check-in and pre-confirmation of booking.

Speaking at the launch, the Commercial Manager for West and East Africa of Delta Airlines, Robert Bryan outlined the achievements chalked up by the airline in its five years of operation in Ghana.

“Delta currently operates nonstop service from Ghana to New York-JFK, Atlanta and Monrovia. Delta serves six African cities in five countries having grown from 22 weekly departures to and from Africa in December 2006 to more than 44 weekly departures in 2011” he said.

Robert Bryan noted that Delta Airlines will invest more than $2 billion in 2013 in airport facilities, global products, services and technology to enhance customer experience in the air and on the ground.

He added that the airline does not only consider Ghana as a place for profit and expansion of its network, it also thinks it has to play a vital role in the economic development of the country.

The US carrier’s boss stressed Delta’s commitment to making the safety and security of their customers a topmost priority.

As part of Delta’s expansion project across Africa, Mr. Bryan revealed that from December 1st, 2011, the airline in partnership with Air Nigeria would start a nonstop service between Accra and Abuja to boost trade and facilitate business and commerce between the two countries.

He observed that the move was in line with Delta Airline’s poise towards making air transportation accessible by developing new routes and linking same to its existing routes to better serve the needs of passengers.

Robert Bryan promised an outstanding service to its customers to maintain the unbeatable record of being the most admired airline worldwide.
