The deplorable roads in the Nkwanta South Municipality of the Volta Region are negatively impacting economic activities.
The roads linking various communities in the area remain unmotorable despite several appeals from residents to government to fix the problem.
Residents Keri, Pawa, Kue and Bontibor all in the Nkwanta South Municipality are demanding immediate action on the deplorable roads that are stifling their business activities.
Traders find it difficult to travel the roads with their products because these roads are characterised by huge potholes and mud.
The poor roads have forced some drivers to refuse to travel the roads, causing many farm produce to perish as farmers are unable to transport their goods to the market.
The residents say they have brought the problems they are facing to the attention of the relevant authorities in the area, however, they are yet to take action.
What makes the situation worse, according to residents, is the fact that the farm produce, which serve as a major avenue for revenue generation for a chunk of the Municipal Assembly’s internally generated fund (IGF), are left to rot because of the poor roads.
MCE for Nkwanta South, John Thusun, has assured residents that government is committed to fixing the roads, especially those in Pawa and Keri Kue to improve economic activities.
He indicated that roads in communities like Bontibor and Pupusu would also be fixed.
