Newly appointed Black Stars Assistant Coach, Desmond Ofei, has revealed that he has had preliminary discussions with head coach Otto Addo about improving the team's performance.
Ofei was named as part of the senior national team's new technical setup following their failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Speaking about his discussions with Otto Addo and Technical Advisor Winfred Schieffer, Ofei emphasized the team's commitment to improvement.
“Yeah, it's about trying to improve on every level. Like I said before, both on and off the pitch, we've identified areas where we need improvement, and it’s something we’ve been actively discussing,” he said.
“We’ve been working hard behind the scenes to address any shortcomings and refine our approach. We're collaborating with experienced professionals and a determined head coach who is hungry to achieve success—most importantly, qualifying for the World Cup.”
He also highlighted the importance of fan support.
“It’s not just about the team; off the pitch, we need to regain the fans’ trust and bring back the love. That comes through performances and winning games. At this level, every team wants to qualify, so it's up to us to deliver when it matters most.”
Ofei was appointed after an impressive stint with the Black Satellites, leading them to a gold medal at the African Games in Accra, as well as qualifying the team for the U-20 AFCON.
