A broadband facility provider and telecommunication consultancy firm, DiscoveryTel Ghana Limited, has rewarded two of its staff members, Justice Sarkodieh and Evans Mensah Amoabeng for demonstrating heroism that saved the lives of two children and billions of cedis worth of property from being destroyed.
The two were on duty when fire engulfed a nearby house belonging to Alhaji Asuma Banda, a Ghanaian businessman. Occupants of the house vacated it, leaving behind twins who were sleeping in one of the rooms.
Whilst helping the people to evacuate the house, one tried countless times to reach the fire service and the police on his cell phone, the other braved the fire, entered the room where the twins were lying and brought them out unhurt.
Mr Anthony Autorino, Chairman DiscoveryTel Incorporated presented Messers Sarkodieh and Mensah Amoabeng with certificate and an unspecified amount of money.
A citation readily, "Because of our belief that corporate citizenship is an extension of our commitment to social responsibility and a way of making a difference in our communities and the society in which we live and work, DiscoveryTel proudly recognizes your instinctive, death-defying, brave and selfless act…"
