Even before the controversial Chief Executive of Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, Rev Albert Okpoti Botchway had been kicked out of office, he had planned to exit the premier hospital.
Rev Okpoti Botchway was accused by the members of the Korle-Bu staff Association of mismanaging the hospital and also misappropriating the hospital's internally generated funds to buy plush vehicles for management members.
He was subsequently sacked by the former Minister of Health Sherry Aryittey, but was reinstated by the substantive Minister of Health Dr. Agyemang Mensah.
However, after consultants of the hospital petitioned the president with a call on him to dismiss the acting CEO and to dissolve the Eddy Annan led Board, President John Mahama dismissed Rev. Opkoti Botchway on Thursday.
He will be replaced by Dr Gilbert Buckle.
Meanwhile, myjoyonline.com has intercepted a letter purportedly signed by Rev Albert Okpoti Botchway on July 25, 2014 which he intended to resign as Acting Chief Administrator on Monday July 28, 2014.
In the letter, he boasted: "In the short time I have been at post, I have contributed my quota with the support of the Board. I have also managed to bring to light certain areas of Korle-Bu’s administration that must be cleaned up."
For instance, he cited the initiation of forensic audit at Ghana's biggest referral hospital. He therefore urged the hospital's board to ensure that the initiative was not "quashed and that you will persevere (despite all opposition), if Korle-Bu is to go forward as a credible health institution."

RESIGNATION AS ACTING CHIEF ADMINISTRATOR
I greet you in the name of the Lord!
On September 15, 2013, I was requested to take up the position of Acting Chief Administrator of Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital. Even though I knew this would take up a chunk of my business and church life, I accepted the challenge believing that I could make some contribution to this great institution. I indicated my preparedness to take up the mantle for a few months pending the conclusion of a search for a substantive Chief Administrator.
In the short time I have been at post, I have contributed my quota with the support of the Board. I have also managed to bring to light certain areas of Korle-Bu’s administration that must be cleaned up. A forensic audit has been initiated. It is my hope that this initiative will not be quashed and that you will persevere (despite all opposition), if Korle-Bu is to go forward as a credible health institution.
Due to pleas from my immediate family, and to facilitate your work and that of President John Mahama, I have decided to resign from the position effective Monday July 28, 2014
I wish you well in your new position and pray for God's guidance and direction for you.
Yours’ the service of the nation
REV ALBERT OKPOTI BOTCHWAY (REV)
ACTING CHIEF ADMINISTRATOR
