President John Agyekum Kufuor has urged the electorate not to be intimidated by threats of mayhem and turn out in their numbers to vote on December 7.
He said the security agencies were ready to ensure peace and safety of Ghanaians before, during and after Election 2008.
President Kufuor made the call when addressing an Ashanti Regional rally of New Patriotic Party (NPP) at the Jubilee Park in Kumasi on Sunday.
He gave the assurance that the voting would pass off peacefully, and the security agencies would be equal to the task to protect life and property.
President Kufuor predicted that the NPP would score a historic electoral victory and expressed appreciation to members, activists, and supporters for their prayers, support and loyalty during the past eight years that enabled his administration to chalk record successes.
Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, NPP Presidential Candidate said a solid socio-economic foundation had been laid by President Kufuor’s administration and that the next NPP administration would build upon it to create wealth.
He pointed out that industrial revolution, was the next phase of the country’s development and would lead the country to pursue it when elected.
Nana Akufo-Addo, reiterated that he entered politics to help contribute to the growth and development of the nation therefore, national unity, peace and stability should not be undermined by whipping up ethnic sentiments and division.
Mr Peter Mac-Manu, NPP National Chairman, called on the Party’s polling agents to be more alert and vigilant on December 7.
