DPP elects officers in Brong-Ahafo Region

Nana Amanfo Antwi, Brong-Ahafo Regional Chairman of Democratic People’s Party (DPP), has said the youth have a major role to play to enable the party to win the December general election. He therefore appealed to party faithful, especially the youth, to be abreast of the party’s policies and vision so they could help woo more members to ensure the party’s victory. The regional chairman was addressing more than 50 constituency executives after he was retained at the party’s regional congress in Sunyani. Other regional executives were Mr. Paul Leo Okrah, vice chairman, Nana Antwi Boasiako, secretary, Mr. Seth Opoku, organizer and Mrs. Rose Adutwumwaa, women’s organizer. The rest were Mr. Evans Ofori Mensah, youth organizer, Pastor Philip Owusu Acheaw, treasurer and Mr. C.A. Yeboah, financial secretary. Nana Antwi said the party had elected parliamentary candidates in almost all the constituencies in the region to help it achieve its goal of attaining power. He conceded that not many Ghanaians had enough information about the party and urged the youth to propagate its message of hope. “DPP stands the chance in this year’s elections and there is the need for a massive campaign”, he said and pledged that the needed support would be offered to the party’s parliamentary candidates. The regional chairman advised the youth to avoid politics of insult and to forge ahead in unity so they could help tackle the diverse problems that affected the performance of the party in previous elections. Mr. Usman Suallah, an aspiring parliamentary candidate for Tain, said ineffective propaganda machinery was a major problem confronting the party and appealed to the national leadership of the party to organize training to update the communication skills of the party faithful He deplored petty squabbles, internal wrangling and backbiting among party members and called for unity and understanding at all levels to help the party to grow. Mr. Usman appealed to the party hierarchy to pay equal attention to all parliamentary candidates and provide the necessary support to enable them to win their seats. Source: GNA
