A former Minister of Education and MP for Bosomtwe in the Ashanti region, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, has donated GH₵100,000 and 200 bags of cement to support victims of the recent devastating fire outbreak at Adum PZ in Kumasi.
The inferno, which razed several shops and homes, has left dozens displaced, with many struggling to rebuild their lives.
During a visit to the scene, Dr Osei Adutwum shared the plight of the victims, especially their children, whose education could be disrupted as a result of the incident.
The former Education Minister visited the Adum PZ area to sympathize with the traders affected by the devastating fire.
According to data from the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) and the Ashanti regional coordinating council, over 2,000 traders have been affected.
This has prompted several individuals to respond positively in aid of the traders.
Dr Osei Yaw Adutwum donated GH₵100,000 and 200 bags of cement to the affected traders.

“When I see their faces and passion, I just had to contribute, that's why I made a contribution of 100,000 Ghana cedis and 200 bags of cement to support the whole development effort”, he said.
According to him, the effect of the outbreak is dire, as it will have a possible adverse impact on the education of students whose parents work in the affected area.
“This is a tragedy and major devastation…our individuals here are the ones who are the engine of growth of our country. These are the hardworking men and women who take their children through school”.
“..It's money from here that secures them that education. If we don't support them, the education of their children will be at risk”.
The traders appreciated the gesture from Dr Adutwum and called on others to help in rebuilding their burnt structures.
