Celebrated Ghanaian playwright James Ebo Whyte is hoping to mesmerise Ghanaians with his new play Final Warning – the first for 2020.
Born into a loveless marriage and a dysfunctional home, with a bleak outlook for his future, Samuel attempts to transform his future and that of his family.
This attempt sets him on a course away from his calling until the final warning came. Final Warning highlights a man's struggle between survival and destiny.
The story, according to the production team is based on the life of pastor Samuel Korankye Ankrah.
“The choreography and the music are going together so it’s very busy, very full-on but it’s fun,” stage manager, Effie said in an interview.
She said that the cast has worked extremely hard to bring to the audience the very best of performance on the designated nights adding that “they have moved their bodies and voices in a way that they haven’t done before.”
The music and dance are a blend of Hip-hop, traditional and numerous genres people would enjoy, Effie added.
This is not the only story Uncle Ebo has written based on a pastor. In 2017, he wrote a play ‘Nicholas’ dedicated to telling the story of Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams.
Final Warning is showing at the National Theatre on February 29th, March 1st, 6th, 7th and 8th at 4 pm and 8 pm each day.
