The Director of Operations at the Electoral Commission, Mr. Albert Kofi Arhin, has confirmed to Joy FM reports of death threats on him.
He said although he had been receiving the threats for some time now, they intensified after the presidential elections.
Mr Arhin said his wife, who was not even in Accra received a message saying if she didn’t advise her husband, she would suffer the consequences of her inaction.
The EC Operations Director expressed worry that other members of his family had also been receiving threats.
He cited a cousin living with him who also received the death threats, wondering how the phone numbers are accessed.
Mr Arhin is of the view that the unknown assailants are just out to discredit him.
He believes the moves are meant to tarnish his image and affect the work he is doing with some international organizations.
The Chairman of the Commission, Dr. Kwadwo Afari-Gyan is also reported to have been receiving death threats.
"Over the years, I have been receiving threats like 'we will wipe out you and your family', 'we will kill you ... ' In all this, I am not afraid, I know that God protects me and my family," he told an Accra-based FM station.
