The District Director of Education for Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai, Mr. Samuel Nyarko, has commended Chirano Mines for their kind gesture, and expressed the hope that the projects would go a long way to address the challenges in ICT training in schools.
The Queen of Anhwiaso, Nana Ago Botwe, who chaired the ceremony, urged the pupils to make good use of the laboratories.
In a related development, Chirano Mines had cut the sod for the commencement of work on six projects for some schools in its catchment area.
The projects include a two-unit preschool block and a six-unit classroom block with office, store, computer laboratory, library, rest room and rainwater harvesting system for New Obrayeko D/A School, a community-based clinic with nurses quarters for Akoti/Etwebo, and a six-unit classroom block with a number of facilities for Akaaso D/A School.
The rest include a two-unit classroom block with additional facilities for Lawerkrom D/A School and Kwamikrom School.
Speaking at the joint sod cutting ceremony at New Obrayeko, Mr Seward said the company was spending $606,157 on the projects.
He urged the schoolchildren to cultivate the habit of planting trees that they would, symbolically, grow with.
