Ghanaian actor, Ekow Smith has said he is hopeful that his ban will be lifted as he is in talks with the Film Producers Association of Ghana (FIPAG), the body that banned him and two others – Yvonne Nelson and Kofi Adjorlolo- to resolve the impasse. Speaking to Hitz Entertainment News, Ekow said he is having some discussions with executives of FIPAG and he is sure something fruitful will come out of it. “This year I have not worked so am sure it (the ban) is still working but we are on it, we are talking to the executives of FIPAG so am sure something will be done about it,” he revealed. The ban prevents him from producing or acting in any movie that will be produced during the ban period (24 months) in Ghana. This means that, “If you are going to work with FIPAG, then I cannot be [part of it] but if you want be an individual person who knows how to handle your own business, fair enough; I can work with you,” he explained. The ban, he said, has not prevented him from trying to complete his first work, Daughters of Men, which he shot in December 2010 and was subsequently banned for not obtaining the requisite permit for his foreign cast and crew before shooting the movie in Ghana.
