Relative calm has returned to Ningo Prampram just 24 hours after tempers flared over voting irregularities during the National Democratic Congress' presidential and parliamentary elections held over there.

The constituency is one of 14 others which was postponed to allow for national executives to solve some of the teething challenges that erupted.

The two aspirants, incumbent ET Mensah, with his prodigy-turned-competitor, Sam George run amok yesterday with accusations and counter accusations of assault, lies and even kidnap.

George claimed his name together with over 2000 of his supporters were deleted from the voter's register, a development that angered them and eventually increased tension in the area.

The two had to be summoned by the party hierarchy to resolve their differences, Regional deputy organiser of the party, James Kpatakpa told Joy News' Kwetey Nartey.

It appears the meeting calmed nerves as voting has started in the constituency, Sunday, albeit, three hours late.

Kwetey said the voting started at 10:00 am because the voting materials arrived pretty late with the Returning Officer explaining they were informed about today's election rather late in the night on Saturday.

Despite the peaceful nature of the ongoing elections, Sunday, Sam George appears to have some concerns.

He told Kwetey Nartey he doubts whether what was going on was an election.

He would not say much except to raise issues about the indelible ink.

He also confirmed he will vote later in the day, a testament that the initial challenge about his name getting missing in the register has been resolved.

ET Mensah is yet to make a comment but voting is going on rather peacefully. Meanwhile, all 13 constituencies are also voting simultaneously.
