A circuit court in Cape Coast, on Thursday granted GH¢500 bail to John Amoah, a 33-year-old electrician, for allegedly defrauding Kojo Nkrumah of GH¢152.00 under the pretext of getting him a room.
The accused pleaded not guilty and would reappear January 4, 2008.
Inspector Francis Ackon told the court presided over by Mr Richard Asiedu-Badu that Nkrumah lives at Akotokyir, while Amoah lives at Savoy both suburbs of Cape Coast.
Prosecution said on September 3 this year, Nkrumah told Amoah that he needed a room to rent.
Chief Inspector Ackon said Nkrumah gave Amoah GH¢152.00, for the renting of a room.
Prosecution said Amoah could not refund the money to Nkrumah even though he could not get him a room.
Inspector Ackon said Nkrumah reported the matter to the police and during interrogation Amoah admitted the offence and made a refund of GH¢50.00.
