An eminent surgeon and a chief executive officer of Doctors World Wide (DWW), Dr. Kani Torun, is on a five-day working visit to the Northern Region to see how best quality medical care could reach people in deprived communities.
The visit was at the instance of the Northern Ghana Aid (NOGAID), a Tamale based NGO dedicated to the welfare of the less privileged in society.
A statement issued in Tamale and signed by Mr. Hamza Gambo, Public Affairs Director of NOGAID said, Dr Torun would collaborate with NOGAID to see how best doctors from the US and Britain could be posted to deprived communities in Northern Ghana to save lives.
The statement said Dr. Torun and other NOGAID members had paid a courtesy call on the regent of Tamale, Alhaji Abdulai Ziblim, who pledged the support of traditional authorities to the work of visiting doctors to the region.
The delegation also called on Dr. Kyei Faried, Northern Regional Director of Health Services and some health institutions in the region to assure them of Britain's support to help improve healthcare delivery in the country.
