Scores of Progressive People's Party (PPP) members in the Eastern Region joined officials of the party to elect new executives for its eastern regional branch.
Supporters clad in the colours of the party-red and white, travelled from all parts of the region to flood the forecourt of the Vetrans Administration of Ghana (VAG) in Koforidua amid singing and dancing.
Frederick Fredua Agyeman, a past parliamentary candidate for the Akropong constituency pulled 674 votes to beat David Tekper who had 516 for the chairmanship position.
Odartey Hayford garned 726 votes to beat Socrate Agbene,462 for the position of the organizer.
The position of the regional women organizer went to Rosina Coffie.She pulled 818 votes to beat Rose Ankamah who gathered 377 votes.
Charles Kyei had 690 votes to beat Abraham Kwao for the assistant regional organizer post.
At the end of the process supervised by the electoral commission of Ghana,the following persons contest unopposed.
They are Isaac Adamtey, Assistant Secretary; Amos Nkansah, Communications; Rita Sarpong, Treasurer; Prince Manyah, Assistant Youth Organizer; Rose Asamoah, Secretary and Daniel Frempong, Youth Organiser.
The National Communications Director of the PPP, Ebo Sam explained said after the regional congresses, the party's top executives will meet to settle on a date for the national congress.
According to him he expects all and Sunday to put all hands on deck to ensure that the party successfully elects officers nationwide.
"We do campaign without acrimony so we know after here everybody will join the team to battle for the 2016 elections", he stated.
