Worries are growing for midfielder Michael Essien’s future at English side Chelsea after the Ghanaian was left out of the squad that played Aston Villa on Wednesday night.
The hard-tackling player was axed from the Chelsea 18-man squad that escaped with a slim win over Aston Villa in the match.
The 30-year-old was overlooked by manager Jose Mourinho as he watched the entire regulation minutes from the stands at the Stamford Bridge.
Despite being one of the favourite players for the Portuguese manager, Essien has not found favour with his Daddy since the league started.
This comes even though Mourinho requested for Essien to be brought back from Real Madrid after a loan spell.
Essien was an unused substitute in Chelsea’s opening day victory over Hull City over the weekend.
This could spark rumours of Essien imminent exit from the club.
Chelsea needed a Branislav Ivanovic header to beat a resilient Aston Villa side 2-1 at the Stamford Bridge to record their second straight win of the season and take temporary leadership of the Premiership.
