Former IBF bantamweight champion Joseph Agbeko is not in a rush to take any big fights yet after about a year of inactivity.
The Fresh King is scheduled to take to the ring on May16 in Texas against Filipino Juanito Rubillar.
A 10-round contest, the fight will be staged in Texas a fortnight after the Mayweather - Pacquiao mega fight. Coincidentally, Agbeko trains under Mayweather's uncle at their Las Vegas gym, although he also frequents the set up owned by the legendary Roy Jones.
"I lost to [Abner] Mares, I lost to [Guillermo] Ringondeaux. Well both fighters are top fighters who are at the top of their game, they are not just any fighters," Agbeko tells Joy Sports on Wednesday in an exclusive interview.
Joseph (29-5, 22 KOs) is aware of his critical need to get back in shape, especially after losing two high profile bouts in the last four years.
"[Because of their high profile] the defeat does not affect me that much . I see myself on the same level with them but that is sport for you."
Speaking from Las Vegas, it was clear the fighter was desperate to make up for lost time, and glory.
"I'm working very hard in the gym to come back strongly and very impressively so definitely my return will make a mark and then people will know that I'm back again."
Rigondeaux (13-0) defeated Agbeko by a shutout decision to retain his RING, WBA and WBO junior featherweight titles in Atlantic City two years ago.
