Ghana Football Association congratulates its sponsors for providing support for upcoming World Cup qualifying campaign.
With the onset of the second phase of the South Africa 2010 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign this month, the Ghana Football Association has expressed its deepest appreciation to its major sponsors for the financial backbone they provide.
Currently the GFA and the Black Stars by extension enjoy tremendous financial support from the corporate community.
Over $3 million is pumped into the Black Stars annually from its sponsors and the GFA is convinced this support will be critical as Ghana prepares to take on Benin, Mali and Sudan in the upcoming qualifiers.
The GFA President, Kwesi Nyantakyi said in a statement that the contribution of its sponsors as well as the support from government is essential to compliment the efforts of the players on the field.
“The football association recognizes the contributions of our cherished partners and stakeholders in our quest to achieve excellence on the field and in the process bring joy to millions of Ghanaians as the nation experienced during our maiden participation in the Germany 2006 FIFA World Cup,” he said.
Gold Fields Ghana provided the bulk of the financial support to ease the Black Stars’ path to an historic World Cup appearance three years ago and have maintained their role as Headline Sponsor to date.
“We are convinced that our corporate sponsors have met their objectives and in the process enhanced the Ghanaian’s belief in the Black Stars which remains the symbol of our national sporting pride,” the GFA President concluded.
The senior national football team has five major sponsors as it heads into the final stages of the qualification series with the dream of securing a second successive World Cup ticket.
The Black Stars’ long-time corporate sponsor, Gold Fields Ghana remain the Headline Sponsor of the team with Nigeria based mobile telecommunications giants, GLO the newest partner to associate with the team as Communications sponsor.
Guinness Ghana Breweries Limited is the Beverage Sponsor, Continental Commodities Trading Company is the Official Meal Sponsor and Puma, the Kit Sponsor.
