Vice Chairman of the MTN FA Cup Committee, Kofi Poku has disclosed that they are yet to take a decision on whether the match between Real 24 Hours and Kumasi Asante Kotoko will still be played at Tumu.
Kotoko rejected the Tumu venue after they complained the park had not met the required club licensing standards.
Last year’s finalists now await a decision from the FA Cup committee but Poku, in an exclusive chat with Asempa Sports, has stated that no decision has been taken yet.
“We have received as statement of Kotoko explaining the reason why they will not play the match at Tumu because the stadium does not meet the club licensing requirement,” he told Asempa Sports.
“When the fixtures were made, indeed some of the second division clubs did not meet our requirement but it was not our authority to take any decision but rather the club licensing authority are in a better position to decide where the matches are to be played”.
“The MTN FA cup needs to be played everywhere but sometimes you need to consider the pitches as well but the management are yet to take a decision because they will go to Tumu and inspect the pitch and if it does not meet the requirement, then the match will be moved to Wa before the match comes on Saturday.”
