Mr John Kwadwo Brimpong, 2005 Obuasi Municipality Best Farmer, on Tuesday called for the establishment of Crop Marketing Authority under the President’s Special Initiative.
He said the authority should be responsible for marketing farm produce to curb post harvest loses.
Speaking to the GNA in an interview, Mr Brimpong said the proposed authority should establish marketing centres or depots at regional and district levels and ensure that there is added value to crops after harvest.
Mr Brimpong said farmers would be encouraged to go into large scale
production on large scale farming.
“Because there is no institution taking care of buying and processing of farm produce our monies are locked-up and for that reason we cannot pay our farm hands," he said.GNA
