The Public Relations Officer of the Film Producers Association of Ghana (FIPAG), Socrate Sarfo and the association’s Treasurer, Madam Helen Omaboe are threatening to resign from their post. The two according to sources are threatening to resign over neglect and the association’s inability to rally behind some of it’s executives when it comes to issues concerning the association and the public. Last week, Socrate Sarfo told Myjoyonline.com that he was stepping down from his post citing indifference on the part of some of the association's executives towards the general administration of the film producers body. “Looking at the caliber of the people I am running the administration with, it is not motivating me to carry on.” Socrate explained that there have been several instances where leaders pull out of public attacks on decisions they have taken at meetings. Leaving him the PRO to handle these public attacks, "they make me look bad." He said the other FIPAG executives come out to say something different from what they agreed on at meetings and “I am getting all the bad press,” he cried. Citing an instance, the FIPAG PRO recalled that the association agreed on an increment in the price of movies sold to retailers which was later met with resistances from a section of distributors and retailers. Socrate Sarfo said he was however shocked that, the president of FIPAG, Augustine Abbey, who was also in the meeting had gone around to inform these retailers that the new prices are high. The retailers later concluded that they were not going to sell any movies produced by Socrate Sarfo. “There are several issues that we agree on [and] before you know, they go out there to say something different,” he stressed. The association’s treasurer, Madam Omaboe who is currently in Holland, according to reports reaching Myjoyonline.com has also threatened to resign over similar sentiments. She is alleged to have said the association, among other things, does not place value on her except when it comes to monetary issues especially the issuance of checques. Helen Omaboe is said to have been asked by the association’s president to sign checques in advance prior to her visit to Holland. The source said an emergency meeting has been called Wednesday to address these issues.
