Some houses around the Nima roundabout in Accra were razed down by fire on Tuesday night.
It took five fire tenders to successfully put the blazing fire under control after close to three hours of fighting the inferno.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known but some eyewitnesses have attributed it to power fluctuation.
A fire officer, Dora Kwarfo who lives close to the affected buildings told Joy News they disconnected power supply to the area, which saved most houses from being affected.
Director of operations at the Ghana National Fire Service, Albert Gaize, told Joy News the fire personnel had a tough time fighting the fire due to the presence of huge crowd that had thronged the scene.
Meanwhile, officials of the Ghana National Fire Service have begun investigations into the incident.
