A six-week intense course on design and branding titled Design & Brand Masterclass, organized by AITI (Advanced Information Technology Institute) and Vertü, Ghana’s premiere creative arts institute, is scheduled to begin on November 18 at AITI (Kofi Annan Centre for Excellence in ICT).
Competitive and rigorous, the sessions will feature practical hands-on tutorials by lead facilitator Nana Kwadwo Duah, Creative Director of Oxygen, a Brand and Identity firm located in Accra, who will instruct participants on what is required to “conceptualize, create and communicate a game-changing, desirable and powerful brand.”
Other industry practitioners, including ace photographer Emmanuel Bobbie, Kofi Amos, former Creative Director of STB McCann, designer and entrepreneur CEO of DPI Print, Kweku Ewusie-Mensah, Social Media Strategist Maximus Ametorgoh of Pop Out and Socialite/Journalist PaJohn Dadson will be among those who will facilite the 6-week Masterclass which is open to professionals and novices alike from the advertising, design, branding and web design fields.
Developed by the creative arts institute, Vertu, which seeks to provide the most highly specialized creative education available to produce industry leaders in the concentrations of design and art direction, branding, advertising art direction and photography, the course will run an examination at the end of week six, after which certificates will be issued.
Looking at such topics as ‘Ideas’, ‘Design’ and ‘Type & Colour’, the Masterclass is open to anyone enticed by the power of creating the future through design and branding. “The only requirement” says Nana K Duah, “is brainpower, creativity, teamwork and lots of energy.”
Opportunities exist for one male and one female to benefit from the course by applying for the Alexandra Duah Scholarship for Independent Creative Nous, instituted by Vertu. It is named after Nana’s mother, the legendary actress Alexandra Duah of blessed memory. “We would like to see more people being able to benefit from the course, and hope this opportunity will help deserving persons gain admission. To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants should simply send a 300 worded essay to scholarship@vertughana.org expressing why they deserve the scholarship by Friday, November 8.”
