Five out of 25 people who were involved in multiple registration have been fined GH¢288.00 and banned from exercising their franchise for two years.
Their involvement was exposed after the exhibition of the just ended voters’ register.
The convicts are Joseph Appiah, Stephen Archier from Ajumako Onwane and Christopher Mensah from Enyan Onyaadze.
The three were fined GH¢180.00 each.
The rest are Emmanuel Sampson Owu from Ahenbrom Kokoben and Fred Kojo Mohammed from Breman Essiam who were also fined GH¢108.00 each
The accused are all from the Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam District of the Central Region.
The presiding judge, Mr. Alfred Kpodo Rockson, said the police, the electoral staff and the assembly members should speed up and bring the remaining offenders to face justice.
The District Electoral Officer, Mr. Prosper Fiifi Caiquo, told the GNA that a lot more of such offenders would be prosecuted.
