An air-borne red umbrella buoyed by whirlwinds in Hohoe last Monday, brought some supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) out into the streets rejoicing that the spectacle was a good omen for the Party in Election 2008.
However the Hohoe-North Constituency Youth Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), George Atsu Egbenunya, dismissed the NDC optimism as superstitious and described the incident as natural.
Ms Florence Abiti, owner of Ultimate Paradise Shop, whose umbrella was carried away by the wind, said the spectacle was a natural phenomenon and that the umbrella served as a shade for the ice water she was selling.
"I cannot impute superstition to this spectacle. It is purely forces of nature at work", she stressed.
