Former Attorney General (AG) Papa Owusu Ankomah is calling for the separation of the criminal aspect of the Ghana Youth Employment and Entrepreneurial Development Agency (GYEEDA) scandal from its structural flaws in order to ensure transparency in the investigations. A committee headed by Senior Presidential Advisor Paul Victor Obeng started work to review the work of a committee that investigated rot at the agency following JOY FM’s exposé. But Papa Owusu Ankoma who also served as Minister for Youth and Sports in the erstwhile Kufuor administration said the criminal aspects of the report must immediately be handed over to the police whilst efforts are made to deal with the systemic failures of the youth employment programme. "If the government is really committed to transparency and the fight against corruption...upon receipt of the report, aspects that may be considered to be criminal ought to be referred to the police for further investigations and to the attorney general to deal with it..." Anti-graft body Ghana Integrity Initiative has also made similar demands. The GII said government must show commitment to the fight against corruption by handing the criminal aspect of the case to the security agencies.
