Four Nigerian women arrested for trafficking 46 girls into Ghana to engage in prostitution will be put before court today.
The girls who were deceived they would be working in restaurants told Joy News they were forced to spend months in prostitution.
They were rescued by anti human trafficking unit of the Ashanti region Police following a tip-off by a Christian worker, Christian Ayensu.
They are currently being counseled by the department of social welfare before they are integrated into their families in Nigeria.
DSP Sarah Aba Afari who led the rescue mission told Joy News search is on for more offenders.
“We are working within our mandate and then we will deepen our investigation to get more of such people arrested and hopeful we will put them before court,” she said.
Deputy Minister for Women and Children Affairs Hajia Hawawu Gariba Boya admitted Ghana is fast becoming noted as a destination for human trafficking.
She however assured of an ongoing collaborations with other countries to check it.
