Police in the Ashanti Region have finally arrested a traditional ruler who has been on the run for alleged murder.
Baamuhene Gyaasehene, Nana Kwaku Nsiah, is alleged to have masterminded the murder of a 28-year-old man who was ambushed and shot by three persons at Adankwame in the Atwima Nwabiagya District of the Ashanti region.
The chief who went into hiding after the incident was arrested at Garu in the Upper East Region, as he attempted to cross into Burkina Faso.
Kwaku Boadu, also known as ‘Father’ was shot several times by the men police suspect to have carried out the killing.
The suspects are Baffour Gyan, Kwaku Gyasi, believed to be the son and nephew of the chief.
They had earlier been arrested separately from their hide-outs in Kumasi and Bechem in the Bono Ahafo Region.
The three are alleged to have ambushed Boadu and his nephew in a cattle ranch and opened fire on them on December 18, last year.
It followed a quarrel a day earlier between the deceased’s elder brother, Linford Owuo alias CD and the chief over a disputed electric pole.
Sulemana Baba, the nephew survivor of the gun attack, told Nhyira FM the assailants fired several shots in an attempt to kill them both.
Meanwhile, a Kumasi High Court has remanded the three including the chief in prison custody to re-appear on the 26th of this month.
Prosecution had pleaded with the court to remand them to enable the police search for other suspects.
