GCB Bank has donated 2,000 copies of books valued at GH¢40,000 to the Ghana Library Authority.
The Ghana Library Authority will distribute the books to libraries and schools across the country.
The Bank funded the publication of a book titled “Anansesem- Adventures of Kweku Ananse authored by Abyna Ansaha Adjei and published by Frangipani Books Limited.
The Chief Operating Officer of the Bank, Mr Samuel Sarpong presented the books to Mr Kwame Tenkorang and Mr Guy Amarteifio, Executive Director of Ghana Library Authority and Greater Accra Regional Librarian respectively during the celebration of the International Children’s Book Day in Accra.

Mr Sarpong said between 2012 and 2014, GCB spent a total of GH¢4 million on corporate social responsibility in the areas of Education, Poverty Reduction, Water and Sanitation.
As a Bank, he explained, that GCB is doing a lot in terms of corporate social responsibility and that education is an integral part of the Bank’s CSR programme.
In December 2013, GCB handed over an ultra-modern five-unit classroom facility constructed by the Bank at a cost of GHC40,000.00 to the Fawoman D/A Primary School at Fawoman in the Ahafo Ano South District of the Ashanti Region.
In 2012, GCB presented a total amount of GH¢2.103 million to the University of Energy and Natural Resources, University of Health and Allied Sciences, to support the expansion of infrastructural development of these institutions.
He announced that the Bank is currently constructing a classroom block for the Bomaa Roman Catholic Junior High School in the Brong Ahanfo Region.
"Our donation of 2,000 books valued at GH¢40,000.00 to the Ghana Library Authority is another gesture of the healthy relationship between GCB and the Authority for the benefit of school children and the reading public," he emphasised.
Mr Guy Amartheifio commended the Bank for the donation and gave the assurance that the books will be distributed fairly.
He appealed to other corporate organisations to emulate the example of GCB.
