Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah will leave Accra on Thursday to scout on the Under-20 team at the FIFA World Cup finals in Turkey.
Appiah will be inside the Istanbul Arena to watch the Black Satellites play France in their Group A opener on Friday.
His trip forms part of his plans to select a formidable side for a friendly in August and the final 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Zambia in September.
Three players of the Ghana U20 team- Richmond Boakye-Yiadom, Frank Acheampong and Baba Abdul Rahman- have trained under Appiah in the senior national team.
“I believe the U20 team they are doing very well now and it’s important that we go over there and watch their games and see if we can get one or two (players),” Appiah told the Ghana FA website.
“I have always had the believe that is important as a whole national team we need always to get a back up so that in case of injuries or sickness we can always fall on some of them.
“Sometimes you could call one or two young players into the team for them also to get exposure to know how things are done at the Black Stars level so that if they also get the chance, they can mix up easily.”
As many as seven players of the triumphant 2009 FIFA U20 World Cup winning team made Ghana’s squad at the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations in Angola where the team finished second.
