The Ghana Embassy in Washington, D.C., has held a solemn memorial service for the victims of the Ghana Air Force Z-9 helicopter crash that claimed the lives of Defence Minister Dr Edward Omane Boamah, Environment, Science and Technology Minister Dr Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, and six other officials on Wednesday, August 6.
The service drew a delegation of Ghanaian clergy from Maryland, members of the Ghanaian community, diplomats, and other dignitaries, providing a moment for collective reflection on the lives and contributions of the deceased to national development.

In his remarks, the Acting Head of Mission, Ambassador Mrs. Jane Gash Aheto, thanked ambassadors and members of the diaspora who signed the Book of Condolence, describing the gesture as a symbol of unity in grief.
“We will continue to soldier on for God and country,” he said.

The leader of the clergy delegation, Bishop Evans Glover, delivered a moving tribute to the fallen officials, commending their dedication to public service and urging Ghanaians to remain steadfast in faith.

“God will restore the nation and not forsake her. In His love, He will gather, comfort, keep, and protect His people so that such a tragedy will not be experienced again,” he said.
The clergy also remembered the 15 children of Obogu Saviour Church Youth Ministry and four others who perished in a gory accident at the Juaso-Nkawkaw stretch of the Accra-Kumasi highway.
