An Executive Council Member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Sammy Anim Addo, says the nation lacks coaching personnel which seems to have affected the progress of football in the country.
Ghana's football has seen retrogression in the last few years and while many have called for the appointment of local coaches for respective national teams, very few have succeeded.
And while a lot of them are in charge of the Ghana Premier League teams, very few have been mentioned as 'good enough' for national team appointment.
Anim Addo in a recent interview says the shortfall of coaching personnel is a huge challenge in Ghana's football at the moment.
"The coaching deficit is huge. It is the biggest challenge right now," he said on Asaase Radio.
"You can have a player but if he is not coached well, the talent will go off. Even in Colts leagues these days, you will see coaches doing things that are [outmoded] and they are the ones developing the talent at that level.
"So [coaching] is a big problem."
Anim Addo however added that some coaches are 'doing well' at the moment while some are in a rush.
"If you look at some of them, they are doing well. Laryea [Kingston] goes down there, Yaw Preko does that, Karim Zito and Godwin Attram do that...you need them to go down there.
"There is a huge gap between the elite coaches we had and now these new ones are coming up. Some of them are in a rush to move to the Premier League because they think that is the elite level."
Anim Addo has filed for nominations to contest for the ExCo seat again at the GFA Elective Congress next month.
