Former President Flt Lt Jerry John Rawlings says Ghana needs prayers and unity to help reduce the economic burden that Ghanaians currently face.
Speaking during a courtesy call on the National Chief Imam, Sheik Nuhu Sharabutu to commiserate with him on the loss of his brother, Ibrahim Sharabutu on Monday, the former President said the Sheikh’s loss was also his loss.
“His loss is our loss. It is the Good Lord who gives and takes. We are going through trying times in this country. Losses of this kind compound the difficulty but so long as we remain united, the burden is reduced,” the former President said.
Accompanied by his wife Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings, Flt Lt Rawlings expressed the hope that when the funeral ceremonies are concluded the two will find time to sit and discuss matters of national importance. He commended the Chief Imam for the efforts in playing quietly to resolve the Dagbon crises.
Sheikh Nuhu Sharabutu in his response expressed his gratitude for the former First Couple’s visit and said he was very happy that they had found time to commiserate with him.
The National Chief Imam said he had also been looking forward to an opportunity to meet the former President to discuss issues concerning the state of the country and was looking forward to meeting him after the funeral activities.
