In his Christmas message, Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin has called on Ghanaians to embrace humility, unity, and reflection in the aftermath of the 2024 general elections.
Acknowledging the year’s challenges, he emphasised the need for reconciliation and collaboration to strengthen the nation’s democratic and social fabric.
“My call to every one of us is to accept the results in humility, to agree that this is how the Almighty God wants it to be, and for us to reflect deeply on what went wrong and what went right,” Mr Bagbin said.
The Speaker praised Ghana’s successful elections as a testament to the country’s stability and democratic maturity.
“None of us thought this would be the outcome of the 2024 general elections, but as God would have it, it has happened. We should thank ourselves and particularly the leadership of the country for this achievement,” he remarked.
Mr Bagbin urged Ghanaians to reject division and hatred, cautioning that such sentiments provide an opportunity for discord.
“Without a nation, we live in silos, in tribes, and that gives room for hatred. The devil will play his role,” he warned.
Calling for a collective commitment to dialogue and the rule of law, Bagbin noted that Ghana remains an example of resilience and hope for Africa.
“Ghana still remains the beacon of hope, a beacon of democracy. We are a country that others look up to. Let’s continue to build together,” he concluded.
As Ghanaians celebrate the festive season, Mr Bagbin’s message serves as a timely reminder of the power of unity, reflection, and faith in navigating challenges and fostering progress.
