The entertainment scene got a vibrant, wheel-powered boost with the inaugural Mr Drew Skate Jamz, a spectacular two-day skating party organised by popular musician Mr Drew in collaboration with Ghud Park.
Held on October 3rd and 4th at the Ghud park skating rink behind the Accra Mall, the event brought together enthusiasts of all ages and skill levels for a weekend of music, moves, and non-stop rolling action, setting a new standard for urban youth events in Accra.
The evening sessions on both days were a magnet for the city's skating community. The sleek skate arena was a kaleidoscope of movement, attracting a diverse crowd including pro skaters, passionate learners, and complete beginners eager to strap on skates for the first time.
The atmosphere crackled with energy, amplified by the presence of Ghana's entertainment elite.

Notable attendees included dynamic dancers from the renowned DWP Academy, who effortlessly translated their stage moves onto wheels, as well as a selection of vibrant young Ghanaian influencers.
Their presence underscored the event's status as a major cultural moment, blending the worlds of music, dance, and urban sports.
A highlight of the weekend was the special Kids' Session held on the afternoon of October 4th. This family-friendly segment offered a safe and fun environment for young ones to try out skating.
The session was graced by the talented children from the Afrostar Kids Academy, the dance school founded by famous dancer Afronita.
Their participation injected an extra dose of fun and energy, proving that the love for rhythm and movement transcends the dance floor and extends to the rink.
The non-stop action on the floor was perfectly scored by an incredible lineup of DJs, ensuring the energy never dipped. Attendees skated to a brilliant mix of genres, including the smooth vibes of R&B, the infectious beats of Amapiano, classic Hiplife, global Afrobeats, and hard-hitting Hip-hop.
DJ Lord OTB, DJ Filter, Rector, and DJ Faculty. Special mention goes to Baby Jamaica, who delivered a fantastic and memorable R&B set on both nights, perfectly complementing the cool, relaxed rhythm of the skaters.
Keeping the massive audience engaged and hyped were the expert MCs: MC Miguel and Location MC, with a special appearance from the legendary crowd-controller, Kojo Manuel, ensuring seamless transitions and maximum excitement.

The tone and ambience of the entire event were nothing short of spectacular. A stunning light show transformed the venue into an immersive, vibrant experience, making every roll and spin feel like part of a massive party.
To keep patrons fueled, a mini vendor market was set up, offering a variety of food and drinks, adding a festival-like feel to the gathering.
An Encore is Set for the Festive Season
Following a resounding success and glowing reviews from attendees, the organisers have confirmed that Mr Drew Skate Jamz is set to return.
Skaters and party-goers alike can look forward to the event making a comeback during the festive season, promising an even bigger and better celebration.
The inaugural Skate Jamz has firmly established itself as a must-attend event, fusing urban culture with active fun and proving that Ghana is ready to roll!
