Black Starlets Assistant Coach, Nuru Ahmed, has dismissed allegations of bribery in the selection of players into the junior national team.
There is widespread perception that players at the U-17 level do pay money to coaches in order to get a chance to play for the junior national team.
The Aduana Stars FC technical directorate member however says there is no basis for such view held by some people, as far as he is concerned.
Nuru Ahmed points out he has never encountered a situation related to bribery in the selection of players since he took up the coaching role of the Black Starlets.
“That’s how people perceive but it isn’t like that,” he told Luv Sports. “It’s never true. I’ve never seen it before since I started with the team. I’ve never seen anybody indulging in that act and players are called based on merit.”
The Wa All Stars ex-manager believes being in charge of the national U-17 team is not easy because, according to him, players at that stage are of raw talent which requires a lot of work to groom.
“The U-17 team is the most difficult part of the national side because that’s the area the players are picked as raw materials and don’t have the basics. You need to spot the talents and nurture them. Managing that level is very, very difficult,” he emphasized.
