Stitches, fittings, models strutting their thing on the international runway, fashion designers—that is the dream. But for Rita Otoobia Wellington, owner of the rapidly expanding fashion firm Ritbal_stitches, this is her reality.
Through such initiatives, Ms. Wellington hopes to position Ritbal as the preferred fashion brand.
She wants to accomplish this in the shortest possible time, and she plans to do it by working hard on her own and with other industry stakeholders to create a fantastic brand.
“In crafting designs, I pay peculiar attention to the cuts. This is because the cuts are like the foundation on which you build to achieve the end product. Achieving that beautiful garment, the finishing also plays a major role, and finally, the icing on the cake will be details,” she revealed in an interview.

According to her, details are an essential feature and an art that brings a garment alive and adds to its oddity. All of these are features that characterize an outfit made by Ritbal_stitches.
Bringing such busting creativity into the fashion industry, it is her desire to break barriers outside the walls of this country. She pointed out that she has already started her ‘push’ into the outside world by working for some people in the United Kingdom and USA.
"I definitely want to break barriers after inundating the whole of Ghana and Africa with my fascinating designs," she added.
Aside from herself and her clientele, she draws inspiration from a few local and international fashion designers, and she looks forward to the day when she can collaborate with them to produce some mind-blowing designs. Among others, she mentions Stella McCartney and Alexander McQueen.
Ritbal_stitches is currently working on her ready-to-wear collection to be offered on her Instagram store in an effort to carve out a relatively easy-to-reach niche for herself. Fashion enthusiasts can easily browse her selection at the shop and make purchases without difficulty, "I guarantee incredible prices and designs that are priceless."
Ms Wellington boldly expressed her conviction as a ‘nugget’ to the fashion fraternity that, “Looking at what I have been able to achieve so far, I so much believe that my presence in the fashion industry will be remarkable in the long run and I would want Ghana and the world to look out for Ritbal_stitches because I am an extraordinary potential to the fashion world.”
Ms Rita Otoobia Wellington launched Ritbal_stitches, her fashion company in 2015, and has already educated a few individuals. She attended Afra-K Fashion School for her training.
