One Ghanaian and nine Nigerians have been arrested in China for allegedly processing fake passports, according to news in the Chinese media. The reports quoting police in east China, say the detainees were also arrested on suspicion of entering and residing in China illegally. The name of the Ghanaian was given as Yusuf Idiyat Omolara. One of the Nigerians named Yusuf Olalekan Mustapha was was reportedly involved in another passport forging offence. They were all arrested when police in Xiamen, a coastal city in Fujian Province, raided the fake passport ring on May 6. Most of the men, the police said, did not have valid identity documents when they were arrested. According to the reports, Xiamen police found photos of foreign nationals, false documents and bank cards at the residences of the ring members. Fuseini Haruna, one of the Nigerians and the Ghanaian national were fined while the rest, said to be without valid ID documents were detained on suspicion of illegal entry and residence.
