A renowned Ghanaian photographer, Mr. James Barnor, is to organise a photo exhibition in Accra from June 29 to July 2, 2012.Mr. Barnor, who was the Daily Graphic’s pioneer photographer in 1950, has dubbed the exhibition, “Ghana - A Heritage Ever Young”.
It will showcase Mr Barnor’s photographs from the Gold Coast times to present-day Ghana as well as his international exploits in America, Britain and South Africa.He told the Daily Graphic on Wednesday that the exhibition would be held at the British Council Hall on June 29 and at the Silver Bird Lounge at the Accra Mall from June 30 to July 2.Mr Banor said he started his photography with the Daily Graphic newspaper in 1950, but left the paper later to further his education in London.He said after schooling, he stayed outside the country for most of his time doing photography and organising exhibitions.According to him, although he started his work in Ghana, many Ghanaians did not know him or his works.Mr. Barnor said the exhibition was, therefore, intended to showcase his works and let Ghanaians have a feel of them.The Chief Executive Officer of Qirv Ventures, Mr Myx Boadi-Alawiye Quest, said the exhibition was to demonstrate the works of an illustrious Ghanaian photographer to the larger public.
