The Presiding Elder of the King Assembly in the Sunyani South Industrial Estate District of the Church of Pentecost, Michael Agyeman Debrah, has reminded Ghanaians to prioritise regular health check-ups.
According to him, early detection during regular check-ups affords individuals to receive personalised advice on maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
It includes guidance on nutrition, exercise, and mental health, which are all integral components of overall well-being.
Elder Agyeman Debrah was addressing members of his congregation at a comprehensive health screening event organised for its members in partnership with the Optimal Wellness Association.

The initiative, held at the church's community in Abesim near Sunyani, aimed to provide early detection and awareness of various health conditions, including diabetes, blood pressure (BP), HIV, hepatitis, and eye health.
Over 250 church members participated in the screening, where a team of dedicated healthcare professionals and volunteers from local clinics and hospitals generously offered their services to ensure the successful event.
He noted that recent studies have shown that many Ghanaians only visit healthcare facilities when they are seriously ill, often leading to late diagnoses of conditions that could have been managed more effectively if caught earlier.
Elder Agyeman Debrah advised citizens to schedule at least one comprehensive health check-up within a year.

The health check-ups, he said, must include basic screenings for Blood Pressure, Cholesterol Levels, Blood Sugar, and Body Mass Index (BMI).
He added, "For those with a family history of specific illnesses, frequent visits may be necessary".
He commended the healthcare professionals and volunteers who contributed to a successful screening.
"Our goal is to support the holistic well-being of our community, and by offering these health screenings, we hope to empower our members with the knowledge and resources they need to lead healthier lives," he stated.
Elder Agyeman Debrah said the success of the health screening has inspired the church to consider making it an annual event.

“Plans are also underway to host additional health-related workshops and seminars throughout the year, focusing on various topics to further educate and support the congregation,” he indicated.
The healthcare team provided immediate feedback and advised the public on managing blood sugar levels through diet and lifestyle changes.
