The Premier League has published the name of Ghana defender, Abdul Baba Rahman, as part of the list of players Chelsea have retained for the 2023/24 season.
The 28-year-old left-back has a contract with the Blues that will run out in June 2024. He signed a three-year extension in 2021.
Baba Rahman joined Chelsea in August 2015 after an impressive 2014/15 season with the German Bundesliga club, Augsburg.
However, he has failed to nail down a regular place in the squad, going out on seven loans to the likes of Schalke 04 (twice), Stade Reims, Mallorca, PAOK, and Reading - where he spent a second loan spell last season.
He made 18 appearances for Reading in the 2022/23 season as they were relegated to the English third tier.
Baba has been out with an injury since February 2023 - playing 11 games after the 2022 World Cup - where he featured in all of Ghana’s group games.
His future with Chelsea is unclear at the moment. There are major doubts as to whether he is in Mauricio Pochettino’s plans for the upcoming season.
